Following the Hindu festival of Diwali earlier this week I decided to further look into the idea of Rangoli patterns and Mandala art. The examples shown above are the exact antonym of 'imbalance' with perfect symmetry and repetition achieved. However these visual elements may be helpful to me in portraying the contrast between a modern, hectic, stressful lifestyle and what it is to be grounded and at peace. For example, the former could be visual portrayed through pattern as something with no particular rhyme or order, whereas the latter I would pretty much visually imagine exactly like the depicted images!

Definitions
Rangoli: traditional Indian decoration and patterns made with ground rice, particularly during festivals.Mandala: a circular figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism.
